Deccan Birders is pleased to invite you all for a field trip to Damagundam Reserve Forest on 10-Dec-2023 (SUNDAY). We will be birding around the Damagundam Temple area (https://goo.gl/maps/9eFzACh8mWQrMB6n9). The temple is in the middle of a dense forest and surrounded by lush greenery.
Damagundam Reserve Forest, a hotspot for avian diversity and endemism. Damagundam Reserve Forest is located in Vikarabad district of Telangana, about 70 km from Hyderabad. It is one of the two major reserve forest blocks in Vikarabad forest range, along with Ananthagiri. The forest is home to a variety of habitats, including dry deciduous, scrub, grassland, wetland and rocky outcrops.
We will cover different habitats and look for the resident and migratory birds that inhabit them. Look out for Painted Spurfowl, Small Minivet, Yellow-footed Green Pigeon, Indian Blue Robin, Taiga Flycatcher, Utlra Marine Flycatcher, Booted Eagle, Bonelli’s Eagle, Eurasian Kestrel, Brown Fish Owl etc., also watch out for rare sightings like Indian Pitta, Malabar Whistling-Thrush, Orange-breasted Green Pigeon, Blyth’s Paradise-Flycatcher, Blue-and-white Flycatcher.
The convoy going towards Damagundam will leave from the convergence point at 0500 am sharp from Sri Guru Raghavendra Udupi Hotel(https://goo.gl/maps/fECHRYeFpQ3jBbF96) near TSPA Junction.
Please carry breakfast, snacks and enough water to keep yourselves hydrated since it will be a half a day trip.
