(July 14, 2024): Field Trip to Zaheerabad

Dear Members,

Deccan Birders is glad to invite you for a field trip to Zaheerabad, on 14-July-2024 (SUNDAY). Zaheerabad close to Chincholi is located near Telangana-Karnataka border. The forest hosts rich biodiversity. Apart from medicinal herbs and trees, species like Red Sanders and Sandalwood are found abundantly with adjoining social forest, has good dry deciduous and Moist deciduous forest in the core with Acacia and Teak plantations on the fringes. The forest area is also home to a various species of birds, look out for White-bellied Minivet, Small Minivet, Fork-tailed Drongo-Cuckoo, Black-headed Cuckooshrike, Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse, Tree Pipit, Rain Quail, Jungle Bush-Quail, Rock Bush-Quail, Barred Buttonquail,  Painted Francolin, Baya Weaver etc.

Those interested in joining the trip may meet at  IKEA Madhapur  by 4:15 AM and will proceed ahead in a convoy by 4:20 AM sharp as it takes 2 and 1/2 hours to reach the final destination. Those who wish to join, can also converge at the 2nd meeting point at Bhel Bus Stop (click link for location), by 4:30AM or atthe 3rd meeting point at Taj Dhaba, Muthangi (click link for location) by 4:50 AM.

As it is a half day trip, please carry breakfast and enough water to keep yourselves hydrated.
