(July 28, 2024): Field Trip to Kistareddypet Lake

Deccan Birders is glad to invite you for a field trip to Kistareddypet Lake located in Hyderabad, on 28-July-2024 (SUNDAY). This is a great opportunity to observe and record the diversity of migratory waterbirds and shore birds in this important habitat as winter draws to a close in the state.

Kistareddypet lake located near Patancheru has recently caught the attention of birders. The lake is home to more than 110 species of birds, including large flocks of Little Stints, Black-winged stilts, Black-tailed Godwits, Garganey, Gadwall etc. One can also spot Ruff, Spot-billed pelican, Common Snipe, Greater Flamingo, Common Redshank, Temminck’s stint and other shore birds. The surrounding area of the lake also hosts species like Mongolian Short-toed Lark, Citrine Wagtail, Baya weavers, Indian Golden Oriole etc.

Those interested in joining the trip may meet at Ikea Madhapur by 6:00 AM and will proceed ahead in a convoy by 6:00 AM sharp. Those who wish to join, can also converge at the 2nd meeting point at Taj Dhaba, Muthangi at 6:20 AM from where the convoy will proceed to the destination at 6:35 AM. Participants can choose either of the converge points as per their geographical convenience and reach the destination by 7:00 AM.

Please carry breakfast and enough water to keep yourselves hydrated. Do join us for we promise you a rich birding experience.

Non-members would be requested to kindly contribute Rs. 100/- per head if they accompany the group. Your contribution will help the society grow.
