Osman Sagar Lake, also referred to locally as the Gandipet Lake, is a man-made lake that spans about 46 sq km. The lake is home to around 278 species of birds, including Indian Spot-billed Duck, Little Ringed Plover, Red-naped Ibis, Purple heron, Grey heron, Little Grebe, Indian Pied Starling, Brahminy kite, Western Yellow Wagtail, River Tern, Blyth’s Reed Warbler, Painted Stork, Glossy Ibis, Long-tailed Shrike, Streaked weaver, Jerdon’s Bushlark, Clamorous Reed Warbler, Yellow-footed Green-Pigeon and Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse among others.
Those interested in joining the trip may meet at Taramati Baradari Resort (https://maps.app.goo.gl/RhENaVY7hi6dXT8D7) by 5:20 AM and will proceed ahead in a convoy by 5:30 AM sharp. Those who wish to join, can also converge at the second meeting point at Sri Sai famous tea & Udipi hotel (https://maps.app.goo.gl/MErSjJzwmE7BVN2MA) at 5:50 AM from where the convoy will proceed to the destination. Participants can choose either of the converge points as per their geographical convenience. You can also directly reach the lake by 6:15 AM.
Please carry breakfast and enough water to keep yourselves hydrated. Owing to summer, the sun will be scorching early in the day. Do bring hats or any cap that would shield you from the heat.
