Deccan Birders is glad to invite you for a field trip to Ananthagiri Hills, Vikarabad (https://maps.app.goo.gl/C9xaNnnfyhmCgpFe8) on 01-December-2024 (SUNDAY).
Ananthagiri Hills, located in the Eastern Ghats of India, is a picturesque and ecologically rich area known for its diverse flora, fauna, and scenic landscapes. Situated near the town of Vikarabad in the state of Telangana, the Ananthagiri Hills forest area forms part of the larger bio-geographically significant region that includes the Nallamala Hills and other parts of the Eastern Ghats. The Ananthagiri Hills forest is characterized by a mix of tropical dry deciduous and semi-evergreen forests. The region has a varied landscape, with rolling hills, deep valleys, grasslands and fast-flowing streams (also Musi river believed to have originated from here), providing a perfect habitat for a wide range of wildlife. The forest is home to a diverse array of plant species, including tropical trees such as teak, bamboo, tamarind, neem, and mahua, along with medicinal plants, shrubs, and flowering plants. The area is also rich in various species of ferns and orchids. The forest is a biodiversity hotspot, particularly known for its vibrant birdlife, making it a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, a wide variety of bird species, including flycatchers, warblers and woodpeckers, are frequently observed in the area. Ananthagiri hills has a rich bird list of more than 260 Species (as per ebird), many common woodland birds along with migratory birds also visit the region during the cooler months, further adding to its avian diversity. Being one of the top hotspots near Hyderabad, Ananthagiri is a promising birding experience. So Don’t miss out and do join us.

As it is a day trip and breakfast options at the locations are minimal, please carry breakfast and enough water to keep yourselves hydrated.
